Here I went for Crompos PC and Wolstanton SC I'm afraid, Trent Tavern also may land through the trapdoor though. Crompos I must admit only got promoted when Players Pool Club side folded, but sportingly, they have ploughed on.

Whoever voted for Players to be relegated ...well it is a bit of fun ...(or are they stupid !!!)
I await the phone call !!!!

I must admit I agree with you all , its Newtown and Railway for me, although Newtowns point on Tuesday could yet to be significant at the bottom (I.E. cant see the bottom four  Railway, Newtown, London Rd B and Lambourne getting many points ...)

Well thats the first part done , I've got me tin hat on now !!!

More to follow soon ...

07-02-12  .....LEAGUE MATCH 3 .......STATS UPDATED ....

At the end of League Match 3 we still have 7 sides with 100% 'win' records, 3 in the Premier and 4 in the First Division.

In the Premier League Locomotive stay top after finishing Plaza Towns 100% start to the season with a 12-6 scoreline. Joker remain unbeaten after a 12-6 win over Plaza, thanks to a 8-1 home win. Players also remain unbeaten , though after 2 games, after beating Longton Zzz's 13-5. Players Baize are now on the move with back to back wins, this week beating Wolsatnton 11-7. The battle of the Green Baize sides saw Abbey Baize be the victors over Green Baize A 10-8.Trent Tavern got their first win with a 10-8 victory over Crompos PC.

In the First Division, Plaza B moved into top place after a 15-3 hammering of Corner Pin. Players Rileys (not my tip) seem to have recruited well and may have become the favourites, also have a 100% start, this week beating the fancied Green Baize B 13-5.Longton Snooker remain unbeaten also with a 11-7 win . Commercial made it 2 out of 2 with a 15-3 win over Lambourne.London Rd A lost their 100% record going down 10-8 to Sea Lion.Longton WMC had a 11-7 win over Railway and London Rd B and Newtown both recorded their first points in a 9-9 draw.

Next week sees Match 4 take place.

The stats for the opening two league games plus the cup games have also been updated, please note there are some sheets missing. The 8-ball page has also been updated .

02-02-12  ......MEETING UPDATE .......

Teams are requested to ensure all 8-balls are marked with the relevant frame to which the 8-ball has been done.

Teams are also requested to ensure players with the same surname have their christian names in full , two examples are the problems last season with Pete and Paul Till , Wolstanton were putting P.Till and this season Players have Anthony Blurton and Andy Blurton ...you guessed it ....it says A. Blurton.

The survey that we did , for fun in the whole, I should say, finishes this weekend. If you'd like to add your votes please follow the link below.

Survey has now been completed Thanks

The date for the re-arranged match between Sea Lion and Commercial was confirmed as Tuesday February 28th. No date has been given for the Players v Wolstanton game yet. The Match between Locomotive and Trent Tavern on March 13th was cancelled.

It is also the duty of the home captain to fill the result sheet first with their playing order and the match playing format. Therefore the away captain only needs to fill his players in .

31-01-12  ......LEAGUE MATCH TWO .......

In the Premier League Locomotive edged out Longton Zzz's 10-8 to go top of the league with two wins out of two. Also with a 100% record are Plaza Town (only second on alphabetical order) as they beat Green Baize A 12-6. Joker are the the third side to win both games after a 10-8 win over Trent Tavern. Players Baize recorded their first win beating Crompos PC 12-6. Plaza also got their season up and running with a 10-8 win over Abbey Baize. The game between Wolstanton SC and Players was postponed.

In the First Division London Rd A had a incredible 17-1 win over Newtown to go top of the Division. Four other sides have 100% records , Green Baize B after a 14-4 win over London Rd B. Players Rileys, also after a tight, 10-8 win over Corner Pin , Plaza B 15-3 winners over Railway and Longton Snooker who beat Lambourne 12-6. Nomads were the other winner on the night 13-5 over neighbours Longton WMC.

Commercial v Sea Lion was also cancelled. This game has been re-arranged for Tuesday February 28th (KO Cup night)

Next week its League match 3 and by looking at the fixtures at least two of the 100% teams will lose their records !!!!!

28-01-12  ......SINGLE MERITS 2011 .......

At last nights presentation Lee Kendall was crowned 2011 Single merits champion after a excellent 6-3 win over Liam White. The match was to a extreme high standard, as expected, and Lee thoroughly deserved his win. But as in all matches, it takes two to make a match, and Liam put up a great performance. Both players deserved the ovation from a crowd of 200 people inside Longton WMC. Also a special mention to Chairman George Bradbury on a top notch refeering performance. The entertainment, i'm sure anyone who was there would agree, was excellent from 'Laughing Legends' and our thanks to them.

Entry forms for the 2012 competition are with all teams and are due in at the March meeting.

28-01-12  ......SEASONS PREDICTIONS AND GENERAL 'FUN' QUESTIONS .......

On the eve of our 2011 presentation we thought we'd ask for your views this season on whose going to win and whose getting relegated etc. plus a few more 'fun' questions.

The answers will be interesting to see. I've started the ball rolling and done mine, the end survey results I will publish at the end of the month.(February)

And you can only do it once ....

Survey has now been completed Thanks

24-01-12  .......LEAGUE MATCH ONE .......

At last we're back in full swing with a full league program. In the Premier League, reigning champions Players Baize took a beating against favourites (my opinion) Players by a 14-4 margin. Green Baize A also got off to a flier beating Longton Zzz's 14-4 also, this based on a 8-1 home victory. Locomotive made it a third 14-4 margin, beating Wolstanton SC.

Plaza Town got the bragging rights of the Plaza, after beating Plaza 12-6. Abbey Baize sneaked a 10-8 win over Premier new boys Trent Tavern. Joker , with a 8-1 home win, beat Crompos PC 12-6.

In Division One, Players Rileys and Commercial both had excellent 14-4 opening night wins, Players Rileys over Railway and Commercial against Newtown. Longton WMC also got off to a flier beating Lambourne 13-5. One of my sides that will be there or thereabout come the end of season, Green Baize B eased passed Corner Pin 13-5. Newcomers Plaza B edged out Nomads 11-7 and Longton Snooker also came through a tight encounter beating Sea Lion 10-8. The London Rd A v B clash result has not yet landed ...

Next weeks action sees League Match 2 take place.

So to Round One , the holders (sort of) Abbey Baize scrapped through against Longton Snooker 10-8.

Favourites for the league, (my tips to follow soon) Players were 16-2 winners over newcomers London Rd B. London Rd A though had a slightly better opening night, only going down 11-7 to last years First Division champions Trent Tavern.

Two Premier sides got through 10-8, although I'm led to belive they both had won the captains games, Longton Zzz's and Locomotive were the sides. Green Baize A saw off Green Baize B 13-5.

04-01-12 .....KO CUP AND SUPER SIXES DRAWS OUT ......

At last nights meeting (and committee meeting) the draws were made for the opening rounds of the KO Cup and Super Sixes.

After much debate the league had 'a shake up' and will this season be played in only 2 Divisions. The top 12 sides from last season will contest the Premier League and the remaining sides, including the new 5 sides, will make the First Division. To 'offset' the loss of a Second Division the league will run a 'Sub' league during the second half of the season for First Division sides.

The Chairmans, Secretaries and Treasurers will be a straight KO , losing the group stages, and teams will be seeded, after the halfway mark, into their respective competition.

It may all sound 'long winded' but it will be clearer as the season progresses.
